Candy is dandy and flowers are fab, but a heartfelt gift of jewelry is a mother's best friend

It’s crunch time gentlemen, as Mother’s Day is right around the corner. So how will you pamper your precious? Flowers are a great start (click here for our fav petal pushers), but nothing puts a sparkle in mom’s eyes like some sparkly stones. And while diamonds are always a woman’s best friend, Mother’s Day calls for something a little more whimsical and charming.

Enter this darling Love Bug charm from Molina Fine Jewelers in Phoenix. Housed inside a soaring castle at 32nd Street and Camelback, Alfredo J. Molina’s jewelry store has been a Valley landmark for decades. On a recent visit we discovered plenty of Mother’s Day winners, including a gorgeous pair of floral-shaped, dangly diamond earrings, as well as a beautifully understated multi-colored pearl strand necklace. However, we were smitten by these 18kt white and yellow gold, enameled Ladybug Heart Charms with diamond insets. (3134 E. Camelback Rd., 602-508-1653)

Located just down the road at Biltmore Fashion Park, Hyde Park Jewelers is nothing like your average mall jeweler. Recently expanded, this posh space features a welcoming atmosphere, as well as a lights-out selection of fine jewelry and accessories. However, we always find ourselves drawn to Hyde Park’s to-die-for watch collections, including this classic CHANEL J12 Ceramic watch. Handcrafted in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, this functional piece of art features diamond markers and (wait for it) a mother-of-pearl dial. (2442 E. Camelback Rd., 602-667-3541)
