The Little Woody is a Big Surprise
The Little Woody is now open where The Great Mistake Escape used to serve. If you haven’t been in, The Little Woody’s name seems a bit strange for the new hotspot. But a quick step inside the back entrance of the unassuming bar on Indian School, tells the story.
Where “the mistake” once felt a bit claustrophobic with its low cigarette stained ceilings, The Little Woody opened literally up, revealing surprisingly stylish wood beams that hover over the bar now. Rumor has it when owner Tucker Woodbury (The Vig) exposed the ceiling’s wood beams, he called the place, “The Little Woody,” and the name stuck. Our favorite design feature of the bar is the 3 inch cut juniper pieces lining the walls. Pieces were hand cut, puzzled together and mounted on plywood for an earthy feel and the fresh cut wood scent. Though neither the name or front imply, The Little Woody is sexy, yet friendly, with a speakeasy vibe for happy hour and later.
Try The Codger combo, a classic beer and whiskey shot for $5. And coming soon, a small menu of light noshes and flatbreads from Chef Lenard Rubin.
