Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out
The curtain drops at Culinary Dropout tonight
Local restaurateur, Sam Fox is starting to remind us of the Pixar movie studio. Sure, we like some of his eateries better than others. But over the last decade, he’s cranked out a dozen restaurant concepts with nary a clunker in sight. So what’s he got in mind for lucky number 13? Just your basic gastro-pub meets live music rock bar.
Taking the stage tonight, Culinary Dropout is housed inside the former Pink Taco space at the Scottsdale Waterfront. (Good thing the Cardinals passed on naming their football stadium after that fiasco.) Here, Fox and chef/partner Clint Woods have crafted a stylishly funky neighborhood tavern featuring live music and a compact yet mouth-watering menu of upscale comfort classics. Think soft pretzels and provolone fondue, fried chicken with buttermilk biscuits and sugar-glazed, pull-apart Monkey Bread. And putting the pub in gastro-pub, the drink menu features $2 ‘Paper Bag Beers’ and saucy-sounding creations such as the Dark & Waspy, Smashed Irishman and The Clown Punch.
