If you’ve never been to the idyllic, 12-acre organic oasis that is The Farm at South Mountain, this weekend it will be calling your name. OK, technically it will be emailing, because we’re giving away two tix to next week’s five-course James Beard preview dinner. Handcrafted by chef Greg LaPrad of the award-winning Quiessence Restaurant, this posh, wine-paired spread is a sneak peak of the intricate menu LaPrad will be cooking inside the famed James Beard House in NYC on July 7. First, though, we wanted to mention a farm freebie for all you Dads out there. This Sunday, Pops eat free at the Farm’s rustically-gourmet, Morning Glory Cafe (pictured), so long as they are accompanied by a paying son or daughter. Yes, nosh on hearty favs such as Cowboy Chili & Eggs, White Truffle Scrambled Eggs & Vegetable Skillet or a classic Morning Glory Benedict, all at Dad’s fav price, free! (8 am - noon, 602-276-8804)

Speaking of free food, let’s get back to that James Beard giveaway. Chef LaPrad, who was invited to cook for the prestigious food foundation after it sent an anonymous diner to sample Quiessence’s bill of fare, starts things off with a 6 pm reception in the restaurant’s solarium. The dinner commences at 7, with a farm-to-table feast featuring ingredients and wines exclusively sourced from Arizona. Priced at $95 (exclusive of tax and gratuities), the dinners run from Tuesday, June 22 — Thursday, June 24. However, we’re giving away two tix to the first person who emails us with the name of  first restaurant chef LaPrad worked at here in AZ.
