Queen Bee
Bestselling author, and bee aficionado, Laurie R. King buzzes by the Biltmore
At Scoop Factory, we love a good whodunit. Which is why we’re regular browsers at The Poisoned Pen, a famed mostly-mysteries gem in downtown Scottsdale. For the past 20 years, this independent bookstore has stocked the Valley’s best collection of murder mysteries, ranging from hard-boiled noir and true crime thrillers to more gentile Agatha Christie-style period pieces. Even better, The Poisoned Pen has put dozens of local authors on the map through its boutique publishing house, The Poisoned Pen Press.
This Tuesday, however, The Poisoned Pen is packing some serious firepower as it brings a trio of bestselling authors to the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Hosted inside the Grand Ballroom, the event is the national launch party for Dana Stabenow’s latest tale, “A Night Too Dark.” However, we’re most excited to meet Laurie R. King, the bestselling author of “The Beekeeper’s Apprentice” and “The Language of Bees,” who will be signing copies of her latest book, “The God of the Hive.”
