Big weekend for bookworms, as two award-winning authors will be appearing at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe. First up is the 11-time National Sports Writer of the Year, Rick Reilly, who will be there tonight to sign copies of his latest laugher, “Sports from Hell: My Search for the World’s Dumbest Competition.” Read along as Reilly puts his life (and dignity) on the line, as he travels the world taking on pseudo-sports such as chess boxing, rock-paper-scissors and whatever the hell ‘ferret legging’ is. The following day, Pulitzer Prize winning humorist, Dave Barry rolls into town to promote, “I’ll Mature When I’m Dead: Dave Barry’s Amazing Tales of Adulthood.” In itBarry tackles everything from fatherhood to unmentionable medical procedures (”There is absolutely no reason to be afraid of a vasectomy, except that: THEY CUT A HOLE IN YOUR SCROTUM”). 6428 S. McClintock Dr., 480-730-0205

For something a little more refined, don’t miss “An Evening of Fine Art, Fashion & Flamenco.” Held this Saturday at 4:30 pm,  this fab fundraiser supports the Point Foundation and will be headlined by a live performance of the Flamenco por la vida dance troupe. Hosted inside the stylish Gerbert Contemporary Art Gallery in downtown Scottsdale, the event will also feature live Spanish opera arias performed by Peruvuain-born soprano, Greta Skelly, and accompanied by Columbian guitarist, Carlos Urtubey. Rounding out the evening, guests will be able to sip on Spanish and South American wines and savor traditional Spanish tapas, while bidding on contemporary art pieces donated by celebrated local artists. 7160 E. Main St., 602-462-5091
