Fashion Square’s New Fashions

Scottsdale Fashion Square sizzles this summer as four fab new retailers set up shop

Summertime is usually a lost season for local fashionistas. After all, it’s hard to really express your trendsetting super-fabulousness when you’re relegated to wearing tank tops and flips flops 24/7. This summer, however, Scottsdale Fashion Square is offering sweet relief with the opening of four new stores, including a bohemian-chic dress shop and a famed jeweler’s first standalone studio in AZ.

The fashion fest kicks off this July as the snappy-yet-snarky UK import, Ted Baker London (pictured) jet-sets into the Barneys New York wing. Specializing in classic European men’s and women’s styles all updated with quirky twists, Mr. Baker also offers to-die-for accessories such as shimmering metallic yarn scarves and crisp, colorful clutches. More important, Ted Baker has built its reputation on bold, bright and summer-ready fashions: think short-shorts beach ware and pantsuits galore.

Later this summer, Free People brings its bohemian-chic revolution to Fashion Square’s Nordstrom wing. Founded by the couple behind Urban Outfitters, Free People offers a similar relaxed (but never ragged) vibe for women, but with more emphasis on quality construction and timelessness. Expect plenty of embroidery and crochet detailing, lace and floral prints, and headbands galore. Last but not least, famed jeweler, David Yurman will also be opening in late summer in the Neiman Marcus wing. Best known for its signature rope-like detailing, you’ve probably seen knock-offs all over town.

Finally, we’ve got some good news about the much-anticipated opening of H&M inside SFS. Although they haven’t confirmed a specific opening date, the AZ Republic is reporting the famed Swedish style shop is set on a summer opening. Which is good news considering the the mall’s owner, Westcor, was previously predicting the store wouldn’t open until the fall. Now they just need to update those huge signs splashed across H&M’s future storefront promoting the store opening this spring.
