Get in the ‘Game’

Win a free cookbook and a wild game dinner at The Lodge in Downtown Scottsdale

allencoverhunt69

What happens when two wild, wooly and wildly-successful food lovers collide? You get a new cookbook dedicated to preparing exotic wild game, including bear, buffalo and, um, NFL quarterbacks? Named “The Quarterback Killer’s Cookbook,” it’s written by all-pro football player, Jared Allen, in collaboration with famed Valley chef, Aaron May. And we’re giving away a free copy to one lucky Scoop Factory reader, along with dinner for two at Wild Game Wednesdays, a weekly cooking demo at The Lodge restaurant, where they cook a recipe from the book and add it to the dinner menu.

Valley-based chef and restaurateur, Aaron May is everywhere these days. He first made a splash with Sol Y Sombra, a much-missed stunner that introduced north Scottsdale scenesters to the joys of Spanish tapas. And although that restaurant is now kaput, you can still start your day at either of May’s two Over Easy breakfast joints, followed by a hearty, two-fisted Sasquatch burger at his woodsy-chic The Lodge bar and grill in Downtown Scottsdale. Then get ready to dine at his super-sexy Iruña, a Basque-influenced restaurant housed inside the old Pischke’s Paradise in Old Town. Finally, wash it all down with handcrafted tipples, and perhaps a deviled egg or two, at his “Mad Men”-style Mabel’s on Main cocktail lounge.

Speaking of madmen, football fans know Jared Allen as the mullet-loving maniac and self-proclaimed “Quarterback Killer” who plays for the Minnesota Vikings. However, you might not know that Allen is also a renowned hunter, who co-hosts a nationally televised bowhunting show. A part-time Valley resident, Allen is also a bit defensive about his karaoke singing skills, as seen by this TMZ clip shot outside the Grapevine in Scottsdale.

So who’s hungry? Simply be the first person to email us with “Scoop Factory” in the subject line. Good luck and happy hunting.
