Steve Nash is So Money
Did you know the Suns' superstar moonlights as a multi-media mogul?

Here in the Valley, Steve Nash’s presence is everywhere. Aside from being the face of the city’s most popular sports team, he’s also the spokesman for APS’s renewable energy program. In fact, one of the TV ads featuring Nash bouncing basketballs off the heads of clueless energy customers is probably playing on TV as you read this.
However, that’s just the tip of the growing Steve Nash empire. Speaking of silly TV spots, have you caught Nash’s latest infomercial for Vitamin water, starring “Canadian celebrity Steve Nash” (on a pink Vespa!) and rapper, 50 Cent? Also an accomplished filmmaker (no, seriously), Nash has directed a documentary that will air this fall on ESPN, as well as a series of popular YouTube short films starring his teammates. Click here to see his “Avatar” spoof featuring a wig-wearing, blue-faced Leandro Barbosa hamming it up on the team’s charter jet. More seriously, the 10-year-old Steve Nash Foundation promotes his pet causes (kids’ education and fitness, environmental responsibility, and improving access to medical care in his wife’s native country of Paraguay). Oh, and he also owns a chain of fitness clubs and is the co-owner of a professional soccer team.
Now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nash has launched a “a hybrid marketing consultancy and venture capital firm.” Named Consigliere, we won’t pretend to know enough about finances to explain what the company does, but you can read all about in this article in Ad Age. Meanwhile, Nash will be back at his day job starting on October 26 as the Phoenix Suns kick of the 2010 - 2011 season against the Portland Trailblazers.
